Time Scholars Programme 2020 Eligibility, Reward, Application Form Last Date

Time Scholars Programme is organized by The Times of India for the students from class 10th to 12th students. The aim of this competition is to develop reading habits among the students making them aware of the society, environment, and worldview. The program is divided into level 1 and Level 2 Level one is for class 10th and Level two is for class 12th. The best performers of each group will get Dell laptops. The Times of India has collaborated with Dell to distribute the awards.

Time Scholar Programme Eligibility Criteria

Students of class Xth to XII can apply for this scholarship. The students must be studying in a school affiliated to the recognized board. Applicants must be Indian National.

Rewards Of The Scholarship

The awards will be given in the following sequence :

  • Level 1 (Class X and Class XII )- The top 100 students will be awarded a Dell laptop each.
  • Level 2 (Class XII)- The top 100 students to be awarded a Dell laptop each.
  • These students will also be eligible for the admission in the UG courses at Bennett University with the scholarship application for 1 year. Students have to fulfill the admission criteria of the university.

Selection Procedure
Students will be selected on the basis of the marks obtained in the reading, final examination, and interview process.


Time Scholar Evaluation Process

The scholarship will be done through the following mentioned procedure:
- Reading Phase: At the beginning of October 25th, The time s of India newspaper will carry one article each day, in its print version, across a range of fields such as current affairs, science, and technology, sports, etc. These articles will provide multidimensional subjects to make the students prepare properly.
- Practice test and Presentation: Weekly practice test will be conducted online, with questions based on the article. Twice during the program, candidates will be asked to summarize articles and share their views through PowerPoint presentations which they will upload on the site. Each practice test will comprise of 3 stories, each with 2 questions to be answered in 15 minutes.
- Final Examination: During Dec 21st to 23rd 2019, there would be an online test of an applicant which will comprise of 11 stories, each with six questions. Students shall be answering those questions within 60 minutes.
- First Shortlist and Interview: The first shortlist of the programme will decide the cut off which includes participation and marks scored in final examination. The best performers, in terms of the cumulative score, will need to appear for an interview in person.
- Winners and Felicitation: For each of the two levels (as mentioned in the eligibility criteria mentioned earlier). 100 winners will be chosen as winners. A select number will be invited to the felicitation ceremony whose details will disclose later.

Terms and Conditions Of Time Scholars Programme
  1. 100 students will be selected from each of the two levels.
  2. There is no registration fee for this program.
  3. All phase participation is required.
  4. Participants are required to read all the articles published in the Times of India print version labeled under Times Scholars during the reading phase and perform the practice tests.
  5. The articles will be based on a variety of fields like current affairs, sports, science, and technology, etc.
  6. During the program, the participants are required two PowerPoint presentations giving a summary of articles published.
