GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2021held to take admission in PG courses of engineering. GATE 2021 exam notification has been released and this time, it will be conducted by IIT Guwahati. GATE is an annual exam organized by IISc Bangalore along with 7 IITs (Delhi, Bombay, Kanpur, Guwahati, Roorkee, Kharagpur and Madras) on the rotational basis.

Important Dates Of Gate Exam 2021

As per GATE 2021 exam notification, here we are providing you the list of important dates related to GATE 2021:

  1. Opening of GATE 2021 Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) Website – 1st September 2021
  2. Closing Date for submission of online Application through website – 21st September 2021
  3. Closing Date for requesting change of examination city (an additional fee will be applicable) – 1st October 2021
  4. Admit Card of GATE 2021 will be available online from – 4th January 2021
  5. Examination date of GATE 2021 – 2, 3rd, February 2021


 

Gate 2021 Eligibility

Here is the list of Gate 2021 eligibility criteria which candidates need to fulfil before sitting in this examination:-

  1. First of all, Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized College/University to apply for GATE 2021.
  2. However, final year students of graduation can also apply for GATE 2021. Although, they only get the admissions after clearing their graduation exam.
  3. There is no need to attain any minimum or maximum age limit for appearing in GATE 2021.
  4. There are no specified percentage criteria to appear in GATE 2021.
  5. No attempt limit to appear in GATE 2021.

Eligibility Criteria For B.E./B.Tech/B.Farm. Candidates–

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering /Technology (Either 4 years Degree course after 10+2 or 3 years Diploma in Engineering) or be appearing in the final year of the Degree.
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


Eligibility Criteria For B.Arch. Students –

  • Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or studying in the final year of Degree
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


For B.Sc. (Research) Students –

  • Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Science (Post-Diploma/ 4years after 10+2) or currently appear in the last year of a degree.
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


For M.Sc., MA, MCA Students

  • Candidates should have Master’s degree in any branch of Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications/Science or equivalent or currently in the final year
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


For Integrated M.E./M.Tech (Post B.Sc.) Post-B.Sc.

  • Candidates should hold a 4years of Integrated Master’s degree program in Engineering/Technology or are appearing in the 2nd/3rd/4th year are also eligible
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


For M.E./M.Tech. Or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2)

  • Candidates should clear a 5years Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering /Technology or currently in the 4th or 5th year of the program.
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


For Integrated M.Sc. Integrated B.S. /M.S.

  • Candidates should hold an Integrated M.Sc. or 5years Integrated B.S. - M.S. program or currently in the final year.
  • Candidates should clear the above-mentioned qualification in 2021.


For Students having Degree from professional Society Examination (equivalent to B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch)

  • Candidates should clear B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch. or equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India)
  • Candidates should Complete Section A or equivalent of these professional courses.

How to Apply for GATE Exam 2021

Follow the below mention steps to register for GATE 2021:

  1. GATE 2021 application form will be available on the official website from 1st September 2021 onwards.
  2. You can only apply for GATE 2021 through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System).
  3. Firstly create and register candidate’s login on official website through GOAPS.
  4. Enter your email ID, phone number and other necessary details and create a password for registration.
  5. Please fill all the details carefully because applications cannot be changed or modified after final submission.
  6. Now, fill the GATE Application form and upload scanned images of signature and photo in JPEG format.
  7. Submit the Application fee of GATE 2021 either through online or offline mode before making the final submission.

GATE 2021 Application Fee:

Following are the details ofGATE 2021 Application Fees:

  • For SC/ST/PWD candidates – Rs 750
  • Women candidates – Rs 750
  • All other candidates – Rs 1500
  • GATE International Candidates - $50

GATE 2021 Exam Pattern

Here are the details of GATE 2021 exam pattern:

  • There are 23 papers in GATE 2021, candidates are allowed to appear in only one of these 23 papers.
  • Examination mode will be online only.
  • Duration of the exam will be 3 hours.
  • There are total 65 questions comprises 100 marks.
  • Types of questions are MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and Numerical Answer Type Questions.
  • General Aptitude Test is similar in all the papers. It contains maximum 150 questions carries 1 marks each.


About Negative Marking -
There is no negative marking for Numerical Answer Type Questions but for MCQs, there will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks for questions carries 1 mark. Similarly, for questions carrying 2 marks, 2/3rd marks would be deducted.


Exam Pattern for All Papers Except GG, XE, XL:

  • 25 questions carry 1 mark each.
  • 30 questions carries 2 marks each.
  • 10 questions will come from GA.

 

Exam Pattern for Paper GG:

  • Part A – 25 questions carries 1 mark each. This is a common part for all the candidates.
  • Part B – 30 questions carries 2 marks each. This part comes with two sections, section-1 is of Geology and section-2 is of Geophysics.
  • 10 questions will come from GA.


Exam Pattern For Paper XE:

  • Section A – Engineering Mathematics (Compulsory Section) – Total 11 questions will come. 7 questions carries 1 mark each and 4 questions will be of 2 marks each. It is common to all candidates.
  • Any two of XE sections from B to H – 22 questions. 9 questions carries 1 mark and 13 questions carries 2 marks.
  • 10 questions will be from GA.


Exam Pattern For Paper XL:

  • Section P – Chemistry (compulsory section) – It contains 15 questions (5 questions of 1 marks and 10 questions of 2 marks).
  • Any two of XL sections Q to U –20 questions (10 questions of 1 mark each and 10 questions of 2 marks).
  • 10 questions will come from GA.
