Central Institute of Hand Tools is commonly known as CIHT which is located in Jalandhar, Punjab. The college was established in the year 1983 set up by the Govt. of India as a National Institute in Jalandhar with the assistance of the UNDP Government of Punjab. The Institute is affiliated to Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Chandigarh.
Institute provides technical education in the field of Engineering. The offered courses are Diploma in Machine Tool and Die Engineering and Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering.

- The Diploma course duration is three years and intake is 60 seats in every branch.
- To get admission to this course, students must have completed high school with Mathematics, Science, and English as main subjects from a recognized board. They must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination. Students will be required to appear in the Entrance exam and admission will be done through counseling based on the score obtained in the entrance examination.
- Students who have completed ITI or 10+2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects from a recognized board can take direct admission in the second year.
