Post-Graduate (PG) Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders 2025 is offered by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the MHRD scheme. PG Merit Scholarship is offered to the deserving and talented undergraduate students who have secured 1st and 2nd rank at the UG level. Students who will be selected for the award of Post-Graduate (PG) Merit Scholarship can pursue a non-professional postgraduate program in any area of specialization from any institution of the country recognized by the UGC. The main objective of this UGC MeritScholarship scheme is to attract talented students to pursue postgraduate studies.

Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship For University Rank Holders 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The following are the eligibility conditions that students have to fulfill to apply for PG Merit Scholarship for university rank holders:

• Students who secured 1st and 2nd rank at the UG level and are rank holders will be eligible for the award of this scholarship. Such students have to submit proof of their merit position at an undergraduate level and proof of admission in PG courses.
• Candidates must complete undergraduate studies in life sciences, physical sciences, earth sciences, chemical sciences, social sciences, commerce, mathematical sciences, and languages. They should score more than 60% in their undergraduate studies.
• This scholarship scheme is available only for students admitted to regular and full-time PG courses in any recognized, deemed university, private university, autonomous college, or post-graduate college.
• At the time of admission, the maximum age limit for the student is 30 years.
• The student has been admitted to a regular non-professional postgraduate course from any affiliated university (central/state) or deemed universities/ private universities / 25 autonomous colleges / non-affiliated colleges.

Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship For University Rank Holders 2025 Rewards Scheme

The details regarding the value of PG Merit Scholarship for university rank holders for PG programs are as follows:

• A total of 3000 scholarships will be provided to the eligible candidates.
• The awardees will receive the amount of INR 3100/- per month for the tenure of 2 years i.e. the full duration of the PG course.
• Except for the aforesaid scholarship amount, no additional assistance will be provided to the selected students.

• The application process will be conducted online only.

• Click on Students.
• Click on Apply for Scholarship (Login).
• Now, read all the instructions and guidelines carefully.
• Thereafter, click on continue to register.
• After successful registration, note down your application ID and confirm that your OPT has been sent to your registered mobile number.
• Now, log in to your account and enter all the required details.
• Upload all necessary documents and click on the submit button.
• At last, take the printout of the filled-in application form for further use. 
• Documents required while applying for this scholarship scheme are:
• 10th certificate
• Attested copy of undergraduate degree
• Prescribed format of a provisional rank certificate from the concerned University/autonomous college
• Verification certificate from the college where the student is pursuing a PG program

Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship For University Rank Holders 2025 Last Date to Apply

Application forms for this scholarship scheme 2025 have been released. The last date to submit is August 2025.

Selection Procedure For Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship For University Rank Holders 2025

The selection of the students for this scholarship scheme will be purely on a merit basis. The scholarship will be provided based on the rank secured by a student at the UG level. In case of misconduct of the awardee and an unsatisfactory progress report (if a candidate scores less than 60 % in the first year of the master’s program), the scholarship may be canceled.

Terms & Conditions Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship For University Rank Holders

• Students who received a scholarship under this scheme will also be eligible to accept other scholarships.
• A student who wants to leave the study midway must get prior approval from UGC by submitting an application and justification through the respective university.
• If a student leaves the study midway without prior approval from the UGC, he/she has to refund the whole scholarship amount.
