Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme 2018-19 - Last Date & Application Form


Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme 2018 provides a platform to promote higher, technical and professional education of the wards of the widows and ex-serviceman of the Armed Forces. The scholarship was started in the year 2006-07 and has been in effect since then. The scholarship registration has been started and students can apply by visiting the official portal. The scholarship aims at giving benefits to the students have completed 12th and have joined the undergraduate professional course for the year 2018-19.  To know more, read the complete article below. 

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme Eligibility 2018-19

  • Only widows and unmarried wards of ESM/widow.
  • Wards of ex-servicemen and their widows (below officer rank).
  • Wards of widows of Ex-servicemen who passed away during military service.
  • Widows of ex-servicemen who died in harness.
  • The candidates who are married is eligible but an earning candidate is not eligible
  • Students who have taken admission undergraduate /Diploma technical & professional Courses in the year 2018-19.
  • Candidate must be 12th /diploma/graduation passed with minimum 60 % marks.
  • Students cannot apply who are studying Abroad.
  • Candidates who are pursuing only regular course can eligible to apply, not available for open or distance learning Course
  • Pursuing Master Degree Courses not eligible for this scheme.
  • If any student is getting the wage for a professional course cannot apply.

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme Rewards 2018-19

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme 2018 will grant for a period of one to five years. It will be given to 5,500 students across the nation. The selected candidate will be enjoying the scholarship amount:

  • Boys - Rs 2000 per month
  • Girls - Rs 2250 per month

What Is The Selection Procedure For Prime Minister Scholarship 2018-19

Students will be selected in prime minister scholarship on the basis of their marks obtained in 12th class. The selection preference will be given category wise as mention below -

  • Children's of Coast Guard, Widows of Ex-Serviceman who was died in action
  • Those children of Coast Guard and Widows who got disabled in action
  • Those Children's whose father died in Military service or Coast Guard service
  • Those Children's whose father got disabled during service

As you know that implementation and distribution of the PM Scholarship scheme are in the hands of Kendriya Sainik Boards. The application will be shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in class 12th. Further, the preference will be given in the following categories:

Category 1 - Under the first category, the preference will be given to the wards and widows of EX-Coast Guard /ESM personnel who were killed in action.

Category 2 - The second category is the Wards/Widows of ESM /Ex-Coast Guard disabled in action and Boarded out of service with disability attributable Military Coast Guard service. 

Category 3 - The third category is the Wards/Widows of ESM /Coast Guard personnel who died while in service for the causes attributable Military/Coastguard Service.

Category 4 - The fourth category is the Wards and Widows of ESM /Coast Guard personnel disabled in service with disability attributable to Military /Coast Guard service.

Category 5 - The fifth category is Wards /Widows of ESM /Ex-Coast Guard in receipt of gallantry awards, irrespective of the rank 4.

Category 6 - The sixth category is Wards /Widows of ESM /Ex-Coast Guard (PBOR only).


PM Scholarship Renewal

To renew PM scholarship one has to apply fresh. You can apply for the renewal via the link given in this article or visit the official website. To renew the scholarship you need to fulfill the following criteria that are as follows:

  • Students should obtain at least 50 % marks in the semester or academic year.
  • One needs to pass all each semester/year in one attempt.
  • Students can apply for the renewal within one year of the announcement of the result and application can be applied throughout the year except for the months between January and April.
